For a time NATO denied having 'boots on the ground' in Libya. Latter they admitted that they did indeed have troops in there. Not everyone who reads this forum kept close tabs on the Libya war, so I felt it necessary to substantiate my claim. Also Frank suggested that all the special forces in Syria where only doing intelligence gathering, I wanted to point out a similar situation in which special forces did much more.name_here wrote:Is this some new rhetorical technique where people pretend something was secret in an effort to drum up outrage over it, even though it literally made the front page of the Washington Post at the time? They literally told reporters that they were trying to improve coordination between Libyan rebels and NATO air support and it was contributing to the rebels beginning to make major gains in pushing back government forces. That is what your links actually say! The first one isn't a retrospective, it's from during the civil war.
So what's up with Syria?

Actually, I haven't suggested that special operatives of France and the United States are only collecting intelligence. I'm saying that none of us have any real proof that they are doing anything else. They obviously are not coordinating air strikes with ground troops in Syria, because there aren't any air strikes to coordinate with.
They very well might be smuggling in weapons, training FSA soldiers, or even fighting themselves on the ground. But there is no evidence that any of that is happening, and real countries in the region have already admitted to doing all of that so invoking the boogeyman of France or the USA is not necessary to explain any events.
And I think it's actually kind of weird that people are speculating on "NATO involvement" and positing French and American conspiracies, when actual NATO member Turkey is simply openly involved in the conflict.

I'm still amused at the idea of anyone positing French Conspiracies. That just seems weird. I know France is a NATO country these days, but man.. it still feels weird to hear it said.
What there is evidence of, is that several cities are being actually shelled. People are being tortured. And on top of it all, Shia are having some fun killing Sunni.

Looks like the Russians are sending troops to Syria.
